Coral Experience
ABOUT
Inspired by Coral Reefs, I came up with an idea for an immersive Lighting Installation, where the audience gets to enter the world of corals and experience what it would be like to be among them. This installation is an upsized depiction of a coral reef. The installation starts with the viewer entering a brightly lit area. They then go onto a very dim, barely lit area, depicting the dead corals and end up with the bright lights again indicating a wake up call for people to take action NOW as the whole marine ecosystem is threatened by the loss of our reefs.
LIGHTING
Based on the installation I made a desk lamp which replicates the same lighting effect as the installation.
LIGHTING EXPLORATION & MATERIALS
I experimented with different mediums and
lighting options. These inxlcuded reflective
surfaces, glass, plastic, and mediums like ink and water. The initial and final prototypes were made using crepe paper, jute, and tissue paper along with LEDs as the light source.
