U-Seat
​The ‘U-seat’ is a seating idea that fits
into a 12’’x12’’ box. It is about 6 inches
hight and 12 inches wide. The seat
cushioning is made out of wood based
foam covered with cotton which is a
sustainable alternative for most foams in
the market. The wooden base would be
stained bamboo.
ABOUT
IDEATION
I explored different seating styles and options. After researching, I found out that squatting is one position that is very beneficial and people often fins it difficult to squat I designed my chair to resolve this issue. The initial prototypes were made out of cardboard, packing tape
and foam, along with small scale sketches with clay.
The final seat would be made out of panels of bamboo wood which be assembled in two simple steps.
